Recent Work

My Mom raised four kids, worked as a waitress for 8 to 10 hours each day, and still cooked and baked like Wonder Woman. I guess as I stole the lemons she had cut for lemon meringue pie and sat under the table eating the sour fruit, I must have absorbed her love of baking. My Father could always coax me into making or baking him something when my Mom was working—his smile of pleasure over the results was always reward enough!
My first “professional” cake was a “Mickey Mouse” cake for my daughter’s 4th birthday (he has been her favorite character for almost 39 years!). Fashioned completely as an experiment of two round layers, with cakes baked in glass dishes for the ears, the final result was exactly as I had hoped, and she was thrilled!
I continued to decorate cakes, without formal training for a few years, and then decided to take a course through Sweet Tooth, now located in Pomona, NJ. That was more than 20 years ago, and what started as a very occasional party cake for a friend has blossomed into a busy, satisfying business. I soon learned that it was easier and more efficient to “keep busy” with projects, than just to do an occasional cake.
Like my Mom, I love to bake and make candy, and since I certainly do not need the calories, it is best to bake for others!
Nothing pleases me more, after delivering a cake, for the bride, birthday person, or any celebrant to call me and let me know that they enjoyed the cake or dessert.
Looking forward to talking to YOU soon about a special event!
